.Austin-Healey has a long and rich history in Salem, Massachusetts. The company was founded in 1952 by Donald Healey, who had previously been a successful automotive engineer and racing car designer. The original Austin-Healey was the Austin-Healey 100, a two-seat roadster that was based off of the popular 1950s Austin A90 Atlantic. The vehicle was powered by a 2.6L inline four-cylinder engine, producing 90 horsepower and could reach speeds of up to 110 mph.
In the late 1950s, the Austin-Healey 3000 was introduced and quickly became one of the most popular sports cars of the time. It had a 2.9L inline six-cylinder engine and produced 150 horsepower, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 120 mph.
The Austin-Healey 3000 was followed by the Austin-Healey Sprite in 1958. This model was smaller and less powerful than the 3000, but was much cheaper, which made it popular with budget-minded drivers. It was powered by a 1.0L inline four-cylinder engine, producing only 46 horsepower.
Over the years, Austin-Healey has become well known for its eye-catching design and reliable performance. Some of the most popular features in Austin-Healey cars include the classic winged side-mounted radiator, sporty bucket seats, and responsive suspension. Today, Austin-Healey cars remain a popular choice among classic car enthusiasts.
